Are you bloody kidding me? I’ve never been a part of any national championships, and now I’m in the finals??
I can’t show you the photo that has taken me to the finals in the championship. It’s not over yet. It is a two part competition. The first is the digital competition, and in that I’ve made it to the finals, but now the finalist are printing their photos, and sent in. And in October there will be a live jury judging all the prints, and behind closed doors they will put points on all the prints and then announce the winners.
Why do I as a photographer compete with my photos?
I say, why not? I want to be acknowledged as a photographer that knows that her skill, my profession is high enough. And if it isn’t I want to get better. That has always been my ambition, to get better and learn more.
This is the first time I am in the finals in the Swedish Championship of photography, but I have been given quite a number of honourable mentions and I have also been given a silver in the big competition of WPPI, with over 8 000 fellow colleagues competing. And a number of bronzes in Sue Bryce The portrait Masters. I want to show you the other of my trophies.
Of course I want to show you that I also do a lot of portraits and my children are my favourite subjects.
